Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Ziglink's smart routing, pricing, and features.

Getting Started

What makes Ziglink different from other link shorteners?

Traditional link shorteners (like Bitly) just make your URLs shorter. Ziglink creates intelligent links that route users to different destinations based on rules you define—location, device type, time, or custom conditions. One link adapts to every audience automatically.

Do I need a credit card to start?

No! Our Free tier gives you 10 active links and 1,000 clicks per month with all routing features included. No credit card required.

How does the archive system work?

On the Free tier (10 link limit), you can archive old links to free up quota slots. Archived links preserve all analytics data and can be restored anytime. This lets you manage seasonal campaigns or rotate links without losing history.

Routing & Rules

How do routing rules work?

You create rules that define conditions (e.g., "if user is from Germany" or "if device is mobile") and destinations (where to send them). Ziglink checks rules in priority order and routes users to the first matching destination. If no rules match, they go to your fallback URL.

Can I have multiple rules on one link?

Yes! You can add unlimited rules per link. For example: Route Germans to German landing page, mobile users to app stores, and visitors between 6-9 PM to a special offer page—all with one short link.

What happens if multiple rules match?

Rules are evaluated in the order you set (priority). The first matching rule wins. You can reorder rules anytime to change priority.

Can I change rules after the link is created?

Absolutely! Edit rules, destinations, and priorities anytime without changing the short URL. Your QR codes and shared links keep working—they just route differently.

Pricing & Limits

What counts as an "active link"?

Active links are links that are currently live and clickable. Archived links don't count toward your quota. Free tier: 10 active links. Pro & Business: Unlimited.

What happens if I exceed my click limit?

You get a small grace period over your monthly limit to prevent campaigns from breaking unexpectedly. After the grace period, your links still redirect but click tracking pauses until next month or you upgrade.

When do click limits reset?

Click quotas reset monthly. Check your dashboard for your specific renewal date.

Can I upgrade or downgrade anytime?

Yes! Upgrade instantly through your dashboard. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. If you downgrade from Pro to Free, you'll need to archive links to get back under the 10-link limit.

What's the early adopter pricing?

Beta users who sign up now lock in current pricing permanently. Business tier is $79/mo now, will increase to $99/mo when Phase 3 features (campaign management, funnels, A/B testing) launch in Q1 2026.

Features & Functionality

How does password protection work?

Add a password to any link. Visitors must enter it before being redirected. Passwords are encrypted (SHA-256), and access is session-based (they don't need to re-enter if they return within a session). Perfect for internal links or exclusive content.

Can I set expiration dates on links?

Yes! Set an expiry date and choose what happens after: redirect to a custom "expired" page, or show a default message. Great for limited-time offers or event-based links.

What's the difference between zigl.ink and viaqr.io?

zigl.ink is for regular short links (email, social, web). viaqr.io is exclusively for QR codes. We use separate domains so you can track QR scans vs regular clicks in analytics—perfect for measuring offline campaign performance.

Do UTM parameters work with Ziglink?

Yes! UTM parameters are automatically passed through from your short link to the destination. This means your existing analytics (Google Analytics, Plausible, etc.) keep working as expected. You can even add UTM parameters to the short link itself.

Can I use custom domains?

Custom subdomains (company.zigl.ink) are available on Pro tier. Full custom domains (go.yourcompany.com) are available on Business tier. Setup requires CNAME DNS configuration. This feature is coming in Phase 2 (1-3 months post-launch).

Analytics & Tracking

What analytics does Ziglink provide?

We track: click count, country, device type, browser, QR vs regular link, and—most importantly—which routing rules matched for each click. This helps you understand how your audience is being segmented and optimize your rules.

Why should I use Ziglink analytics if I have Google Analytics?

Ziglink shows you rule execution data that Google Analytics can't—which routing rules are firing, which destinations are being used, and how your smart routing logic is performing. Use both: Ziglink for routing insights, GA for conversion tracking.

Can I export analytics data?

Export functionality is planned for Phase 3 (Q1 2026). For now, you can view and analyze data in the dashboard.

Is analytics data preserved when I archive a link?

Yes! Archiving a link stops it from working but preserves all historical analytics. You can view archived link data anytime and restore the link if needed.

Technical & Performance

How fast are Ziglink redirects?

Sub-50ms average worldwide. We run on a global edge network with 300+ locations, so redirects happen from the server closest to your user. No matter where they are, redirects are instant.

What's your uptime guarantee?

We target 99.99% uptime. Our infrastructure is built on enterprise-grade edge computing with automatic failover and DDoS protection.

Are there any redirect limits or rate limiting?

No per-second limits. Your links can handle viral traffic. We only count clicks toward your monthly quota—there's no throttling or performance degradation.

Can Ziglink handle large traffic spikes?

Yes. Edge architecture scales automatically. Whether you get 10 clicks or 10,000 clicks per minute, performance stays consistent.

Account & Billing

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to your dashboard → Manage Subscription (Stripe Customer Portal). You can cancel anytime. Access continues until the end of your billing period, then you'll be downgraded to Free tier.

What payment methods do you accept?

We use Stripe, which accepts all major credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. We don't store your payment information—it's all handled securely by Stripe.

Do you offer refunds?

We handle refunds on a case-by-case basis. Contact support@ziglink.app if you have an issue, and we'll work it out.

Can I get an invoice for my subscription?

Yes! Stripe automatically generates invoices, which you can access through the Customer Portal. For custom invoices (e.g., with your company details), contact us.
